Default Login problem

Please Login to Remove!

I have bold 9700.
The problem is after connecting to my computer to back it up, it started asking to enter my password, which was entered. But it kept saying wrong password.
I've tried both my SIM and login screen passwords but didn't work.
Then I disconnected my blackberry from my computer and I got the same login screen on my blackberry.
And somehow everytime i type in my password i see letters instead of the ****. Using the alt key I could change the letters into numbers or my password, but even if i type in the right password with those numbers, the phone keep saying itís a wrong password..
What's wrong? Please help me out, I got the final attempt left and i really don't want to lose everything on my phone.

Seeing the actual characters rather than the **** is there to show you exactly what you're typing.

Usually this happens with users who have numerals in their password, and haven't held down the ALT key on the numbers. So, if you're password is "1234", it might actually be "1ers".

Could that apply to you?

Thank you JS for your prompt reply.

No, my password entered is correct after I typed in because I can see what I'm typing.
The ALT key is hold while I input my 4 digit number passcode and I've been using this passcode up until I decided to back my blackberry up on my PC today.

sono, read my suggestion again.

On your device, you input the password with what you "think" it is, I am betting it the latter numerals are actually alpha characters. I've seen this a lot, when the user finally inputs the password on a REAL keyboard, the password is not "1234" but rather "1ers" or some form of that according to what your numeric password is.. because you didn't hold down the ALT key for all numerals in your four digit password.

No JS, I hold the ALT key each time enter my 4 digit code, after entering the code I can see the 4 digits on the screen. They are correct. What else can I do?

.....................

Wait a minute, if my password is (assume) 1346 then it must be on the screen shown like 1rsf rather than the 1346 on the screen?

If I got you right, I must hold the ALT when I input the 1, then input the 346 without holding the ALT ignoring the alphabets after 1 on the screen?

Exactly... do you recall IF that is how you've entered your numeric password in the past... i.e. hold the ALT key for only the first digit, releasing it and entering the three remaining characters?

No, I entered them without holding the ALT key at all, assuming I entered only 4 digits like for the SIM card. That's why I kept removing the password wrsf and replacing them with 1346.
The previous 5 or 6 failed attempts were done on my PC. I noticed the password started showing on the screen after pulling it off my PC. Now it makes sense. Thank you JS.
