this shouldn't be a problem because i used to get in wifi no problem with v4.xx

Is the browser set to Hotspot Browser as default?

Many carriers now require a BlackBerry Data Plan in order to get the WiFi Service Books.

This is not a fault with the device.

A BlackBerry is not the right device for everyone. Might not be the right device for the OP.

As far as I know, T-Mobile does allow wifi via hotspot browser without a data plan, unless something has changed.

Agree first step is to make sure browser default is set to hotspot.

Also, to OP....BlackBerrys are different. It is what it is.

To see the source of the irritation look in the mirror. If you don't have a BlackBerry Data Plan, you cannot fully utilize a BlackBerry.

.... amplification to what I posted above.... You need a blackberry data plan to use the blackberry data services. As far as I know T-Mobile allows the hotspot browser on wifi without a data plan, but for non-blackberry data, of course.

If you are trying to use blackberry data apps, then then that's the problem. No blackberry data plan, then no blackberry data, period. Not even on wifi.
