Default Email Setup application wont work

Hi,

I recently returned from Singapore, where i purchased a blackberry torch 9800. my email sync was working fine there on the singtel network, however when i got back here and switched back to t-mobile the email setup application wont even open.

when i click the email setup application it says "application initializing" then comes up with "the application has encountered an error and cannot continue".

i've tried reseting the phone by taking out the battery but nothing seems to work. all the other applications, bbm etc work fine its just this.

any ideas?

I haven't seen this before. Don't know the solution. But here is what I would try and/or look at if it were me:

Make sure you are getting a good, steady data signal, and that you are connecting to the RIM network.

Call your carrier and make sure there is no problem on their end with the network or your account.

Do another battery pull. Be sure you do it with the power on. Wait a good two or three minutes this time.

If you are still having a problem, then do a full backup and then do a security wipe. And for the security wipe, select to delete third-party apps. (You may want to back up third-party apps before hand if you have paid apps that will be a problem re-downloading.)

Before you restore any data or apps, test and see if you can run BIS email app.

If still not working, make a decision. Would you rather forget about it for now and use the BIS portal on the web using a computer, or try wiping the device with JL_CMDER and then reinstalling the OS?

See what others say. Maybe someone knows exactly what the problem is.

Did you cancel your BIS account with your carrier in Singapore?

I have read a couple of places that if you open the Host Routing table. Please the menu button, select Register Now. This should (fingers crossed) solve your your issue.

Tried that. Also, tried resending service books from the BIS website too. No luck.

Hello,

Did you ever resolve this issue? I recently moved from Jordan to Egypt with an unlocked BB Bold and have the same problem. I either cannot open the "Email Accounts" folder or, on the few occasions when I can, I cannot open the "Internet Mail Account" link. Do you have any suggestions? I tried restoring factory settings, removing the batter, etc. Vodofone tried to help but concluded that the issue is not on their end.

As I posted above my contact at RIM offered no explanation except that they would like the pin of anyone who was getting the error. Shortly after providing my pin mine started working again. If you want to provide me your pin, in a Private message (PM) I can give to him. If you don't want to do that then call your carrier back and have them escalate the case to RIM.

Hey John,

I have this issue to.
I went to Kreta in Greece and when I came back the email installation didn't work.

In the installation menu, email account then it wont do anything.
When I'm in my email browser, pres menu key, then options, than emailaccount it would not open it at all.

Can I allso send my PIN to you and can you tell me when the problem would be helped?

I allready did. By phone amd in the carrier shop. He said that KPN Netherlands couldn't do anything for me and that many people face the same problem.

KPN NL would contact BB about this problem.

Can you inform me about the progress of you, helping me.

Your carrier has the option of escalating the case to RIM. I dont know why they wont do it I have submitted your pin and ill let you know if I hear anything.

I'm having progress in solving this issue.

I had the problem after I had updated my "Email Setup Application".
My country wasn't in the list of the update.

UPDATE

SOLVED the problem!!

I was searching on the blackberry community site and found more people having the same problem.

There I found the install file of the Blackberry "Email Setup Application"
You can find the version number in > Options > Application Management > Email Setup Application.

This program can be downloaded in many different languages and you need to have the version of your country installed.

How do you know witch version you need?
go to the Email Setup Application as I told earlier. Than scroll down and look witch languages are installed (net_rim_bis_client_"your country initials"

How can I add my country?
when you click on the link for downloading the email setup application you will see at the end of the link your "Country Initials", change it to the initials of your country (copy link, paste it and change the initial). I'm living in the Netherlands so my initial is "NL".

After downloading it, it will ask you to instal it, click "Yes". Aftel the program has been installed reboot the phone and try and open the email by the instal menu.

This all workt for me.

same problem here, downgrade to OS 5, email working, update to OS 6 email not working.

What do you use to install the vodamy.blackberry.com/rest/updates/tc/6.0/6.11.0324.1701/net_rim_bis_client_en.jad file to your device?
