Default Bold isn't recognizing micro SD card anymore

Please Login to Remove!

Hey everyone,

Last night, my Bold shut off mid-browsing the internet because the battery was dead. Plugged it in, it booted back up, and I noticed my wallpaper was back to the factory default and not the picture I'd put onto the media card. Checked the media folders and the Options menu, and it's not recognizing that there's a media card in there at all. I've had the phone for over a year, and the 2GB SanDisk micro SD card has been in there since the beginning with no problems. I've rebooted the phone several times, and I've connected it to my computer and backed it up, but I'm not sure how to tell if it's recognized when it's connected to the computer either.

Any idea what's wrong with it?

Thanks!

When the battery went dead it may have corrupted the OS or the media card. Try formatting the card in the blackberry and hopefully it will be restored although not with any of your data. Just in case you were wondering the battery does have limits.

Managed to get all of the media off of the card by putting it in an SD adapter, so I'm fine to reformat it, but it's not giving me the option to. Under the Options menu, there is nowhere where it mentions "media card" except under "memory", where it says "A media card is not presently inserted in the device." I also put in another micro SD card to see if it recognizes that, and it's the same deal. How do I format it if it doesn't recognize that it's there?

Reformat it in the PC where you copied the data to and then put the data back. You don't have to format it on the device itself. Then pull the battery on the device, stick the SD card back in and restart.

Sorry, I'm new at this and am confused. I put the card in the phone, and plugged it into my mac. Didn't see any options for formatting the card, or any options for the card at all, so plugged it into my PC instead. It started backing up and restoring everything without me selecting it, and then it crashed halfway through the restoration and told me it had a fatal error. I'm in the process of restoring from my mac, but I still can't access the memory card.

What Max said was put the card in a card reader on the computer and use the computer to format the card.

Not sure what you are describing above. If you've set desktop manager to do sync's and backups automatically, then what you observed was desktop manager doing one or the other, or sync'ing media files.

What is the 'it' that crashed, and what is 'crashed'?
