If there is a person who is anti-technology, it's my wife. And after assuring her I would find a rock solid phone for her to use I bought the BB Bold 9650 for use on the Sprint network. Now I'm in the doghouse because she is getting a lot of calls where the sound is intermittent and sometimes the call drops. This even happened in our home where we have a signal booster/Samsung Airave. It also happens on the road sometimes.
When the phone works, the calls sound great. But sometimes it doesn't work and we have these problems. I can't figure out a problem or why the calls are sounding so bad. And it's not just our hearing the other person, they also can't hear us or the sound breaks up/cuts in and out. So unless it's a bad Mic AND a bad earpiece, there's something wrong with the way this phone is grabbing a signal.
I called Sprint tech support and they reset the PRL and also had me change the settings from operating as a World phone to only looking for Sprint and affiliate towers.
If anyone has any ideas of how to maximize signal strength I'm all ears. In my experience, Sprint repair service never fixes anything and the phones that they send you if you get a replacement are refurbs that usually work worse than what you brought in for repair. So I am hoping to avoid Sprint repair service.
