Default no emails whilst in france

Please Login to Remove!

I was in France a couple of weeks ago and was receiving emails for a few days then it stopped. Voice calls still ok. Orange could not help and I put my sim card into a Samsung phone and again could receive emails. When I drove out of the Chanel Tunnel all the last few days emails suddenly downloaded to the Blackberry.

Orange do not know why as no problem with my roaming for voice and data, they just say that blackberry server works differently and Orange do not guarantee coverage abroad (I was on Orange France!) I now must take 2 phones abroad just in case it happens again. Ornage say sometimes a network hitting capacity will bar roamers to give their customers preference but my Samsung was OK and I drove 600 miles through France with the problem not clearing on blackberry.

Any other ideas or experiences ?

It's your carrier that shut down your BlackBerry email. It might seem odd that they did it only with BlackBerry data, but if that's where most of their roaming traffic comes from it makes sense that they were only looking at BlackBerry data. Most carriers lose money on providing roaming data, especially across national borders.

thanks, I presume that you mean the carrier in France and not Orange in UK?

I think Orange sees the data roaming as reported by the French carrier and cuts off your data plan.
