Default Wrong Date for All Day Appointments

Please Login to Remove!

Hello

No doubt there is already an answer to my question somewhere on this forum, but I cannot find it!

Why is it that if a send a meeting request from my Blackberry to an attendee it shows up as being one day earlier? It only happens for all day meetings that span more than one day. For example, if I send a meeting request for an appointment that is all day Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th March the recipient receives an invitation for a meeting that is all day Sunday 28th and Monday 29th March.

It is really annoying and I have spent so much time trying to resolve this problem. No doubt it is something silly, but I cannot work it out. The day is set as 0800 - 2200 in the general calendar options, if that makes any difference.

I would be really really grateful for any helpful advice that anyone can provide because I use all day meeting requests surprisingly frequently (it is the only way that my husband and I can keep track of each other's movements with travelling for work).

Thank you in anticipation.

I'm assuming then the other BlackBerry is your husband's, and that they are probably both set to the same time zone? Is that in fact correct? And when you set the all day meetings up in your calendar, do you leave the time zone of the appointment alone (i.e. set to your home time zone), or do you change it according to your travel location for that/those day(s)?

Also, are either or both of the BlackBerrys on BES?

My husband does also have a Blackberry, but exactly the same problem occurs when I send a meeting request to my work email address (as opposed to my personal one that is linked to my Blackberry) where I am using MS Outlook so I am fairly certain that the problem is caused by something on my phone.

Both my BB, my husband's BB and my work computer are set to GMT (we live in the UK). I do nothing to the time zone when I set up an appointment in my calendar so it stays set to the default of GMT.

I am afraid that I do not know what BES is so I cannot answer that one.

BES is BlackBerry Enterprise server. Typically for example if you have an employer issued BlackBerry and your email, calendar, etc are in "sync" with your Outlook on the office computer, then you would be on BES.

I have two thoughts. First, I do what you do, sending calendar invites to my wife so my travel schedule is in her BlackBerry calendar. I set all day appointments in the time zone where the event is to occur. Often on my wife's BlackBerry the appointment would overlap days, apparently because of the time zone difference, instead of showing up as all day on the same day on her calendar.

The other thought is that over the years there has been a question or two from people having weird problems with time on calendar invites. For example someone might ask, "I'm in L.A., the BES is in Chicago, and every calendar invite Mary in Paris receives from me is two hours off. Why?" These people were doing everything right as far as anyone could tell. It was a mystery.

If you are sending all day meeting invites to someone who is physically in the same timezone as you, and they receive the appointment for a full day earlier. Then my only conclusion is that either the sending computer or BlackBerry is set to a different time zone than the receiving computer or BlackBerry. I would have everyone double check the time zone set on their BlackBerry, computer, and Outlook.

Thank you. We did check time zones and we are all on GMT with the correct date so that is not the cause. Thank you anyway.

Any other ideas anyone?

You did not indicate the type of PC or the level of the Desktop Manager so this may help

Read these links.

KB20341-Calendar entries turn into all-day events, and the end date appears one day earlier on the BlackBerry smartphone after synchronization

KB20334-Daily or weekly all-day recurring events are synchronized with the end date displayed one day behind on the BlackBerry smartphone
