Odd roaming 8310 issue
 

I purchased a used blackberry 8310 at&t model
I got the unlock code from AT&T
I then traveled to Asia with it (Philippines) and
put in a SIM from a local provider (Smart)
I was able to activate the Blackberry service from them
I could surf the internet and receive pin messages.
I could not seem to activate the Email (BIS) service on the device
When I try to connect to the BIS site from the device it never connects
and times out.
it also seems to send a odd looking phone number with txt messages.
Is there any sort of a setting that would tell the device where in the world
it is that should be adjusted or has anyone seen anything like that

Maybe there is something SMART has to do on their end. You might try giving them a call.

I was trying to avoid that, I am sorry but customer service in the Philippines seems slow to me ;) (you have to wait in line at Smart to Load, they don't explain you can do it online)
