Hello, I am new to this forum but I need some assistance with my blackberry,

I have had it for almost 2 years now and the problem has been getting worse over time but I guess it is at its peak of being the worst. After every 2-3 days my phone starts to slow down and then It gets to a point where it is loading for a long time before I can do anything it won't matter if I open an application, or my text messaging menu or the home page for my blackberry every time it starts to communicate with the network it will load for 1-5 seconds then 5-10 seconds then it will get so bad it will load frozen until I restart my phone and this happens at least 10-20 times a month I am so fed up with it!

Several things. You need to look at your free memory on the device (look in options). It may be borderline, such that you are barely ok after a battery pull, and over time and use, available memory drops into the danger zone. So, look at free memory after a battery pull and then again after 24 hours or so of use. If this is your issue, delete apps and themes you don't need. If you have stored media in main memory, move it to the microSD card.

Also look at the apps you have running. It's best to close apps when you are done with them. If you have add-on or third-party apps that can be set to run in the background, be selective and only run an app in the background when absolutely necessary.

Experiment and see if a particular app happens to be the problem.

And you could possibly have an app that is causing a significant memory leak.

Would not upgrading firmware cause this as well? well the applications I run on my phone are Facebook,Msn,Blackberry messenger,AIM and yahoo messenger because they are all free on top of that I do not have a data plan so nothing else is on my phone,

I never log into AIM,Yahoo or Myspace so the only ones I use are Facebook, Msn, and BBM, Should I delete everything else that I do not use from the applications and if I want them back to just download them? Also everything I save is on my SD card and I am uncertain where to check the devices memory.

Not having done an OS upgrade is not the problem.

If those are all the apps you have, and you haven't installed a bunch of third-party themes, that wouldn't seem to be the problem.

Have you perhaps been keeping every SMS or MMS you've sent and received?

Those are all of my applications, and I delete the messages from facebook and sms messages on a daily basis I don't like the clutter I also felt that it would slow my phone down.

What is your free memory? Look before and after a 30-second battery pull. Post the values.

Well I had deleted the apps that I do not use from my desktop manager so I am rebooting my blackberry but over time it seems it takes longer and longer to reboot each time it takes about 1-2 minutes for it to actually start up, unless that is normal, I am uncertain it was able to reboot quickly before now it just gets stuck on a white screen with the hour glass, I am not sure where I am looking to find this memory but on my SD card there is 800mb free out of 1.8gb because I have some music on there, but when I go into status I see File free: 40884270 bytes at the moment,

Your free memory is ok.

See what others say. All I can think of is do a soft reset, or double soft reset every several days whether you need it or not.

You might try a security wipe, and elect to delete all third-party apps. Do a full backup first. Then after the wipe, restore your data. See if that improves things.
