Default play media files

I have a pearl 8100. I want to play my media files through my auto speakers. I have a casstte player and along with a cassette adapter like the one I use to play portable CD player in the auto. My problem is as soon as I connect to adapter the phone sends a message asking to initialize voice mail "say a command". I pull out the connector and and reconnect the player sometimes plays but out of the speaker- phone only. My question is am I wasting my time or can this be done?

Sounds like maybe the headphone jack it damaged. Does it work with regular headphones? Have you tried a different cassette adapter? Have you tried an FM modulator instead?

The head phone jack is ok i use it with head phones and the cassette adapter works fine with the CD player. I don't understand why the voice command wants to activate?

It sound like the device your plugging into the BB is causing it to think you want to activate voice dialing. Some headsets are capable of doing this. I attached a sample of a BB documentation indicating this issue. I'm not sure there's much you can do about this.

"About using a headset
You can purchase an optional headset to use with your BlackBerry® device.
If you use a headset, you can use a headset button to answer or end a call, or to turn on or turn off mute during a call. Depending on your device
model, you might be able to use a headset button to make a call using a voice command.
Depending on your headset, you might also be able to use a headset button to pause, resume, skip, or adjust the volume of audio or video files.
For more information about using the headset, see the documentation that came with your headset."
