Hi, I have recently purchased a BlackBerry Bold 9000 unlocked from ebay and I was wondering can I still use text and calls with my sim card? I already have a data plan from AT&T will it work with the BB? Do I need to register the phone and is there a fee for registering it? Can I register it without a data plan? Thanks in advance!

You need a BlackBerry data plan to use BlackBerry services like push email, BBM, BB web browser. A generic smart phone or carrier data plan won't do.

Once you have the data plan you can log into AT&T's BIS page and register. No extra fee for registering, just the BlackBerry data plan cost. But you can then drop your regular data plan as you only need the BlackBerry plan.

And if you do not get a BB dat a plan, AT&T will add it for you. They periodically scan IMEIs on the network and add the appropriate features, such as data plans. Took them 26 minutes to find my 9000.
