Default Yahoo Synch problems

First post so please be gentle !

I am having difficulty in synching my Bold 9000 to my yahoo calendar. My emails work fine and I can synch my yahoo contacts but when it gets to synch my calendar it always comes up with the message 'Contact with Yahoo Lost' and nothing is synched. I am synching by cable connection to PC not wireless.

Anyone got any ideas what might be causing this ?

Are you speaking of using Desktop Manager to sync contacts, calendar, etc. with Yahoo?

Some things to try:

Do a hard reset on the BlackBerry. (With the power on, remove the battery for at least 30 seconds.). Then try sync again.

Review your calendar entries. If you can look at your calendar in Outlook in row and column view that would be helpful. Look for odd characters, empty records, anything that is out of place. Delete the odd characters and empty rows, and anything else weird that you find. If you have extensive or complex notes in your calendar, that would be another possible source of problems sync'ing.

That's what I know to look for. Check the Desktop Manager log and see if it provides any clues.

Thanks for this.

I am using the Blackberry desktop to sync.

I am using Outlook but using Yahoo. It seems that it can't find the path to the Yahoo calendar.

Will a hard reset mean I lose all of my contacts ?

The hard reset will not delete anything. You will not lose your data.

Thanks for all the replies.

I now understand what the problem is. The latest Yahoo calendar release is not compatible with a Blackberry and it is impossible to sync the two.

I now have to find another way of having a calendar, I will posting a seperate query for this.

I have had contact with Yahoo and BB about this same problem. BB said they are working on a software update to respond to Yahoo's new calendar but will not give a fix date. iAfter over 2 months, it's become obvious that this is not a priority for BB. We Yahoo users have been left high and dry by BB. Switching to Google is an option but that's quite a hassle that we shouldn't have to go through. Switching to an iPhone is another option that's beginning to have some appeal to me.

ive lost my contacts and calendar i have bb curve 8520 when i go to options to connect to yahoo or facebook through wireless sync it just says no when i click anything it just goes to save it was all set up before all the bb problems

The problem is with Yahoo, not BlackBerry. Yahoo has to make their system compatible for BB sync. Google did it, and now BlackBerry users have great integration with Google services. I sync my contacts and calendar wirelessly to my GMail account as an online backup. Yahoo has ignored BlackBerry users for years now. In fact, I don't know of any platform that syncs properly with Yahoo.

Sometimes the wireless sync function gets corrupted. Going into your BlackBerry's Setup app and into Email to re-enter your password for the account can fix it. Other times you need to delete the email account from your BIS and then re-enter it. After that you should get the option for wireless sync of contacts and calendar back, provided you did have it already.
