I'm kinda new to the blackberry and this is my first time update. I've been googling the absolute shiz on this topic and can't seem to find a solution! I have a blackberry pearl flip 8220. I've tried updating it on the desktop software and I get this error. I've done it on the Loader.exe and I get this. I tried all the following actions, and nothing works. I've also installed the latest BB USB and drives mods. HELP!!! I'm poor so my parents wont buy till like months!!!

Are you connecting directly to the real USB port on the computer and not a hub?

Try a different cable or PC.

Yep I'm connecting to it directly.
And last night I tried a different cable, no luck.
I tried both cables on a different computer, no luck.

Did you try #2 from the image you posted?

And is the battery fully charged?

Yeah, tried #2. Made sure that the box in the power management tab that said "allow computer to turn off device to save power" was unchecked. I even tried it checked.

I don't really know if my battery is full charged though.... because all I see is a "Reload Software 507" on my phone.

Well, I'm out of ideas other than charging with a wall charger for a couple hours then trying again. Maybe someone else with other ideas will come along.

And fyi, in case you didn't know, "Reload Software 507" means there is no OS on the device. But you probably knew that hence your reason for posting.

The problem is my phone keeps blacking out when it gets to the part of the update and the error pops up (as seen in the video I posted.) My parents are extremely mad. Should have never tried to update.... :/
Noticed that this happens alot with the BB. And if I get a new phone it's definitely not gonna be a BB again, probably an Android if my parents let me. (Lol probably shouldn't say this on a BB forum.)

I don't know that it happens a lot. What you read about on forums are the few that have problems. But what you rarely read about are the many success stories. I've updated BB's numerous times without issue. I You've had a bad experience for sure, but you shouldn't blame all blackberry device because of it.

Agree with devnull. There are a lot of BlackBerry users and on forums you mostly only hear about the problems, not the successes.

Pay attention to the step involving getting the BlackBerry to connect the instant the connection display in the application loader wizard switches from COM1 to USB-PIN:UNKNOWN (or USB:BBPIN).

These articles do not specifically apply to your problem, but the method of making the connection may be your solution, if there is no other problem with the BlackBerry or the desktop computer.

So, give it a try. Note that timing is important. If you don't get it first try, try again and again a number of times before giving up.

Haha yep you're right. I'm wrong to blame the BB company. It's just that I've been looking online and have seen tons of problems. I've also had this happen before but that one was worse. Yeah, shouldn't blame on my experiences.

Seriously, it really is difficult if not impossible to mess up so badly it can't be fixed, short of water damage or very hard knocks and drops. You just have to stick with it until you figure it out, or stumble on the solution.

You will see complaints on just about everything you can look for on the internet.
As aiharkness suggested in his post, try those links. For some reason your OS is gone.

Unless the BB is defective they should help get it running again.

On the second link you gave me, I get USB-PIN: 257D5B3C i don't get USB:UNKNOWN.
I also followed the steps in the list to get USB:UNKNOWN to appear, but no luck. Still shows USB-PIN: 257D5B3C

I'm having seconds thoughts about my advice. I looked at the screen shot and now see that the computer is making the initial connection, but not reconnecting later. That's right, isn't is? If so, I expect it is going to happen again.

I am not sure of the solution. I'm aware of this issue; just don't remember a sure fire fix. My instinct is to try again with another computer.
