Default PLEASE HELP!! - My Blackberry has a mind of its own!!

Please Login to Remove!

I have a blackberry bold 9700, and all of a sudden 2 days ago the keys have started to get extremely sensitive, and itís started to press buttons for me. It started to call people, send blank emails, it wonít let me do anything I want to, and it even presses buttons even if I just hover over the keys. I've tried taking the battery out of it which didnít work, I was hoping to try and factory reset it but as I canít press any buttons, I canít get onto settings to do it. If anyone could tell me how to fix this, or just some advice as to what to do that would be brilliant as itís really stressing me out at the moment.

Thanks

Please do not double post. Once is enough. Your second thread has been deleted.

What did you do just before this began? Sounds like it got wet.

The app may have corrupted the OS. look at the top of this forum and follow the link in the FAQ section. You may need to reload the OS after a wipe or simply do a wipe and reset your information and various emails. Do a backup before you do anything but only include your contacts and emails not any apps. Those you will need to download to make sure they are clean. all standard apps on a new unit will be there when done.

Thank you for the advice. I clicked on the BlackberryFAQ at the top, and went to upgrade OC (i assume thats the one i was meant to click), and it asked me to click BlackBerry Operating System Downloads, which i did, then i chose Orange UK but its saying that the site map is not found, do you have any advice as to where i should look now? Sorry, im new to all this so im very confused. Thanks

At the top of the 9700/Bold2 forum there are links for the most recent OS for that device. Doesn't matter if it's from a different carrier as long as it's the 9700 model BlackBerry.

The FAQ has lear instructions on upgrading your OS and if you follow them exactly you should be good to go. Pay particular attention to the step for deleting the vendor.xml file. I forgot this step and the install ground to a halt, causing me to almost tear my hair out (profile pic may suggest otherwise).

Go to the sticky at the top of the 9700 section. There you will find the latest OS for your device and the instructions for how to install it. Follow them exactly and be patient, as it can take an hour or longer to run.

You should first run Jl_cmdr (see the FAQ for instructions - How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ) to wipe the device before installing the OS.

Make a back up first so you will retain your data.
