BB 8520 Download Failed

Hi I'm kinda new to the BB world, I've read through some forums and I have the same problem! I've tried bolt, but some files run through and some fails "mostly fails!"... I've tried boosting my signal as well no change! I thought it was only me that's irritated by the speed and successful download rate, but I guess everyone has come to that conclusion. Can anyone shed some light my way, would be appreciated thanks for reading my thread

Re: BB 8520 Download Failed

Is your question about Bolt, or is Bolt just one of the browsers you've tried, in addition to the BlackBerry browsers?

Also, I'm assuming you simply mean download, such as audio and/or video files, and not software download and installation. Is that true?

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan?

LilSaint 06-19-2011 03:12 PM

Nope I'm not asking about bolt and yes it is one of the browsers I have used. I just want to know what other alternatives are there to ensuring that my video/ audio files will download fully

I activated my BIS if that's what you're referring to by data plan

Re: BB 8520 Download Failed

The BlackBerry Internet Browser has a download file size limit of about 3MB, I believe. But there is a limit. If your file sizes are smaller than that, you shouldn't have any trouble. I don't know about Bolt or Opera Mini.

There is no limit with the BlackBerry Hotspot/WiFi browser, at least not that I've run into.

If it isn't a file size issue, then my only other advice is to do a hard reset and try again, making sure you have good, uninterrupted signal.

Thanks... But I don't thinks that's going to help I've done that before. The files that I download is usually over 3megs cause I love good quality. I've read on previous threads that deleting service books 2, does that actually work or is it just a hoax?

Delete service books? I don't see how that is going to help. Re-sending service books is a common fix for some things, but you clearly are trying to download files that are too big for the BlackBerry Internet Browser.

Have you tried downloading same files with Hotspot Browser on WiFi?

Nope I haven't tried that before... So there is absolutely nothing I can do? Its really frustrating!!! Guess I'll just have to stick to buying things then. Thanks for your help

Re: BB 8520 Download Failed

I did a quick search and may have found what you were referring to wrt service books--bypassing RIM's download size limit.

My advice is use wifi to download larger files. I can't say there is nothing else you can do, but I wouldn't advise messing around and trying to bypass RIM's limits on browser and email attachment download size limits.

An oh-by-the-way, the BlackBerry Podcast app does not have a file size limit even when BlackBerry is connected on the mobile network. I have some podcasts that are an hour plus long, and one that periodically posts a feature length movie. Maybe you can do something with that.

Hey, I wasn't planning on messing around with that... And I've downloaded the exact same app you just told me about without checking the forum, I've been researching as well thanks for that tip though.

Re: BB 8520 Download Failed

@ simon that's because you're using a data plan... No limits as the BIS has.

Ok is there a way I can disable the bis temporarily whilst still using the opera browser??

Re: BB 8520 Download Failed

I think you are able to do that by going to options - applications - opera mini and press menu and edit permissions to state what connection you prefer using. Hope it works

Ok browser2 does work if u delete secondly some1 very stupid told u that Bb broswer or bis has limit of downloading upto 3mb those r ppl how jz listen to wat is told by the book and nvr try things on their own. Bis has no limit no matter even the manager of your service provider come to his knees n tell yes there is a limit. I download more than 6GB every month without a peny more them bis subcription and no additional data plan other thing u can use is nux downloader that 10$ app and once off but if u wana keep it vry free then browser2 file delete is good thing to do before u download jz delete that it will come again n u again delete it before downloading another file. That service book doesn't tell u fone to stop download aftr a limit is jz pause ur data flow from some time n then start again which basically fail downloading if by luck u pass the pause download always continues.

Work in your reading comprehension as well as your writing.

This thread is about indidual file size download limit, not monthly total data limit.
