Hi there. I have just picked up a 2nd hand BB 9500. I have a mains AC charger and when plugged in all I get is a light in the corner for about 5 seconds, then it goes out, and a battery logo appears on the screen with a red X through it.
Cannot do anything else. I have tried a few of the suggestions about removing battery and stuff but no luck.
Have ordered a battery off play.com and will look to get another from town tommorrow anyway, but any idea what this is.. are the battery problems I read about so bad that it kills batteries?

Probably it's as simple as a dead battery, or a little worse, a bad battery.

Plug the BlackBerry in to the wall charger and leave it for an hour or two. Then, with the BlackBerry still plugged in, remove the battery for a moment and then replace it. See if the BlackBerry boots up. If so, leave it to finish charging.

If it doesn't boot, leave it for a while and see if it eventually boots.

I hope you ordered and genuine BlackBerry battery, and not the cheapest BlackBerry battery you could find. If you buy one tomorrow as planned, buy a OEM BlackBerry battery.

Don't know, its called the poundmart, but the picture is the same as the one in the phone, the D-X1?
I did see a replacement battery for the 9500 Thunder? whats this then?

Thunder was the storms(models - 95xx) code name before it was released.
