Question LED Problem, will it ever work again?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Guys!

I am posting this on behalf of my friend. He recently disassembled his Blackberry to change the housing and he could not get one of the screws loose in the top right hand corner (LED side) of the handset. With a little bit of force, a small piece of the motherboard itself came loose with the screw.

His LED is now not working and I told him this is because the connection has been interfered with and he will not be able to get the LED working again unless he replaces the motherboard. Was I right in telling him this? I would appreciate any feedback just to be certain.
