My blackberry curve 8520 has been great over the 12 months I have had it, about a month ago it had white screen and required an os re-install(thank you BB forums for talking me through that). The battery got to be not lasting 24 hours so I replaced it, the battery now lasts less than 8 hours, seems to hold the charge for the first 4 hours then drops from 50 percent to zero within the space of 90 minutes.

I am now on replacement battery no 3 and its acting the same

Help - it makes the phone more or less useless.

Maybe the re-install and power loss are unconnected but I'm just left with a big ??

The 4 hour drain is not normal unless you have an App running all the time for updates.
When you reloaded the OS did you add any additional apps?

I don't think so - its possible I installed four square after the OS but I don't think so.

Unless you have something wrong with the BB, I would try to do a wipe and reload of the OS again but this time dont load any apps. if everything is ok then load the app and if it starts again you found the issue.

there was a software update when I connected to the desktop and installing this seems to have worked.

I am having a similar issue. My phone battery dies in few hrs, and it's brand new!
Did your battery drain quickly even if the phone was off?
What update did you exactly install?
What is the desktop you connected to when you did the update?

If the battery drains fast something is running. Facebook, Myspace, GPS or some other constantly updating app. Anything you use?
