I have a BB Bold 9700
I have a WiFi hotspot at my house, that I could connect to fine at home in Egypt.
I came to visit my parents in Kuwait, and I'm now using a SIM card from another carrier.
I try to connect to the WiFi service we have at the house, and I can connect, but I don't receive anything on my browser. My social updates give me a message that I should contact my carrier to buy a data plan...
Can carriers do that? Stop you from accessing your WiFi

Second of all, my WiFi at the moment has DNS server configuration. I added that in, thinking it would solve it, but it still didn't. My WiFi option has Detect IP Automatically, but 2 DNS servers. On BB though, you can't separate the two, you must enter values for DNS as well as IP is you uncheck the box.

How can I get Internet through WiFi into my BB, without having to purchase a DataPlan.

Put your old SIM back in... the one with the data plan.
Just turn off Mobile Network so you don't get billed by your provider.
