| Re: Why is my blackberry 3g doing this? Here is my experience: I live and work in a humid climate. See my profile. And I have stood in the rain in a hat and coat with my BlackBerry in a stock holster on my belt under my coat, more than once. Never a problem.
Reading the forum, when someone is asking about button and keyboard malfunctions and they haven't outright dunked the device, often through questioning you'll find out there was some exposure to moisture, such as a sweaty pocket or something. I remember one lady was carrying her BlackBerry down her top while dancing. Humid shower room is common. One guy believed condensation occurring when he left his car for the hot humid outside was causing symptoms of moisture exposure.
Again, I live a climate that is hot and humid. And I get in and out of my air conditioned car when it is hot and humid outside, and I do it all the time. No problem. Maybe it is because my BlackBerry is in a holster? I don't know.
At any rate, if you are having button or keyboard or trackball/trackpad issues and you can point to a plausible moisture exposure scenario, even if you didn't realize it at the time, then that is the most likely explanation. It doesn't make it the only possible explanation; just the first possibility to suspect.
In my opinion, given the symptoms described in the thread, THE first step is to remove the battery and give the BlackBerry sufficient time to dry, and then test. Maybe it is a hardware problem and not moisture, but if you don't treat it like moisture to begin with you risk ruining the device when it may be recoverable. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile |
