Desktop Manager will not back up phone! So , I am at my wits end with my DM . I have tried everything I can, including reinstalling the DM 3 times . To no avail , it see's my 9650, but keeps giving me a " Problem or error backing updevice" It does the same thing with my Tour. It took me 3 hours just to get it to update the OS on the 9650 the other day. It is totally usless to me , and I hate the idea of not being able to back up the phone. PLEASE , any help would be greatly appreciated..! |

Here are a few tips since your description is kinda vague. - do a battery pull on the BB. - clear browser cache, cookies and history on BB browser. - try a different cable - try a different computer - make sure you are using a direct USB port and not a hub |
Re: Desktop Manager will not back up phone! Did the battery pull , that was my first line of defense lol. CLeared browser. I have tried 3 cables. I have tries 4 USB ports , 3 on the back of the computer. As for a different computer , i have not tried that yet. Sorry to be vague in the last post . I should of listed that I am running Windows 7 Pro , and the latest version of DM 6.1. It also won't sync contacts to my Outlook 2010. |

Re: Desktop Manager will not back up phone! I'm sure it isn't a Windows 7 issue, exactly; but it may be your computer and/or your particular Windows 7 installation. It would be interesting to know if you can sync and backup using another computer. Also, when you uninstalled DM and reinstalled it, did you do a clean uninstall? If not, you should try that. Then do a cold restart of the computer and install DM again, and then test. Search clean uninstall BlackBerry desktop manager and you will find directions, if you need.
