Default Lost my new 9780!!! Help!!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone!
Found this forum through a google search and I have tried to read old posts but nothing helpful..
Here's the deal.. like many, I have lost my spanking new 9780 in a taxi... an Egyptian taxi..so forget about calling the taxi company as no such thing exists!

The same day I lost it as soon as I got home I got on the BB Protect website and tried to locate it, block it, make it ring and every other option...
It doesn't work at all.. and a week later still nothing... my message is still waiting to be delivered and so is the block.... saying it's possible the phone is not connected...

Now two very important things I will say:

1) Blackberry protect is wroking brilliantly with my other BB9700 it locates me, rings me, messages me too
2) BB Protect says the 9780 is not connected.. oh really... then why is some guy called Mahmoud messaging a friend of mine from my BB?!!!

I called Vodafone Egypt and they say they don't have an IMEI blocking network between various carriers as we have for example in Italy...
Any ideas??

Thanks
John

Maybe the person who has your BlackBerry removed Protect.

I think faith in using Protect to do anything with your device after it is gone is misplaced. To me THE advantage of protect is the automatic remote backup.

Personally, I would have (and do) set a password with an appropriate time out. I really doubt I'll every see my BlackBerry again if I do something like you did, but I still put my contact info on the owner screen just in case. But I don't count on Protect being much help. In fact I know if won't be much help in locating and recovering the device, and I know the password (and encryption) is going to prevent my data and files from being compromised.
