Unhappy Unable to Register on BIS

Please Login to Remove!

People,

I have an unlocked Verizon 9630 which I had been using for 14 months (on Vodafone IN) and it was running seamlessly until last Saturday.

Suddenly on Saturday evening, network indicator dropped to edge (lowercase) and 3G (without BB icon symbol) which means data services went unavailable.

After that I would pull-out battery and data services (uppercase EDGE) would stay for 7-8 mins before shrinking back to edge. My twitter would download few updated tweets, which means data services were running.

I tried various options like - register HRT, batter pull, etc including reinstalling OS (5.0.0.1030) which made situation worse. Now the initial 7-8 mins of data had also gone and handset would not even register on the BIS network.

I have done clean wipe and downgrading OS back to 5.0.0.732 but am at complete loss. Customer service is clueless and their last piece of advice was that to take it to a 'local' blacberry repair shop and may be get it unlocked again. FYI, all the phone services like call, text etc is working fine.

Looking for some veteran piece of advice on this.

Thanks in advance!

Mohit

Wow! First it is bad forum etiquette to bump your thread in less than 24 hours. Everyone here VOLUNTEERS their time to help others. There are lots of people asking questions, so what makes your issue more important that others?

Your issue sounds like it is related to your carrier. Call them and tell them you're having issues. They may have inadvertently removed the BIS access from your account.

Sorry on the forum etiquette.

I might not be clear in my first post, but I have BIS service enabled and have checked with my carrier several times. Also my sim card works perfectly on other handsets.

I would not have posted if it was a simple oversight!

Your carrier could have borked your provisioning. Happens from time to time. To get them to admit the problem is on their end you have to call them and be insistent they check, double check, and even triple check things on their end.

Have you gone over your monthly data allotment? Different carriers handle it differently when you do. Some throttle your data speeds, others cut you off.

Since you're sure it wasn't a "simple oversight" we can assume you've done the simple things like re-register your device with your carrier's BIS page and resent your service books, right?
