Default in need of help

the other day i was on my blackberry bold 9780, after i got of the phone my phone had froze so i took the battery out, it would not turn on, finally it came back on but kept going white if i pressed buttons, if i pressed the screen up above the red phone the picture and everything came back on but as soon as i let go it goes of, i was on the phone to vodafone today to find out i have no insurance on it either they did say they would send it off but i would have to pay but they would not tell me a price, has this happened to anyone and if so how did you fix it thanks

The total white screen failure has been posted a number of times. I don't know what would be involved in fixing it.

Is vodafone offering to exchange it for a refurb, or are they offering to repair it? If the later, it makes sense they can't give you a cost before the BlackBerry is looked at.

Have you gotten the BlackBerry wet? If so, you probably should forget trying to fix it. Otherwise, you may want to find a repair shop and ask for an assessment of the problem and a cost estimate to fix.

vodafone repaired my bb for free, it was something to do with the motherboard wich was why if i pressed on the screen up above the red phone it was making a connection and coming on so theyve replaced it and the casing, imn verry happy now

I would make sure that your carrier (Vodaphone) quotes a price before you authorize them to fix it. May be cheaper to find another phone. Hopefully it all works out for you.
