my son came home from school today, and he has lost all his data off his blackberry, all contacts, blackberry groups texts etc, he still has his photos, is there anyway we can get them back, and any idea how this happened.

If there was a lock screen password on the phone and your son (or someone) forgot it, after 10 failed attempts. The phone will completely wipe. If you don't have a backup file of the device, then I think you're out of luck.
