I have a problem with my SMS in-box constantly needing emptying b/c it displays a message saying: it is full and messages need deleting. This is very tiring when I have some emails and call logs I need to save for future reference.

This device model already already has a email inbox for each account and a call logger - I cannot for the life of me think why all this data is being duplicated in the SMS box - and I cannot delete emails or call log info from the SMS inbox because that removes it from the email inbox and call logger

First try a battery pull to reload the OS.
Also if you have loaded any third party apps one may be causing this issue. As a last resort you might try deleting them one at a time.
Yes it's time consuming but other than a device wipe not much else to try.
