I set up my BB 9700 to be pass word protected but now I cannot disable that function. I really do not need it protected.

Sounds like you have an IT Policy on this phone.

You haven't got the same phone as me but you can try

Go on the menu->click on options->it must have password keeper on if so click on it then some where it should say something like 'disable password' if it doesn't then I am run out.

No, the OP is not talking about password keeper.

I think #2 may be on the right track. Or else the OP doesn't know the password and thus cannot enter the correct password in order to disable it.

JLOWE, if you set the password, then you should be able to disable it.
