Please Login to Remove! Having problems with sending/receiving emails to day. Checked online and there apparently is an issue:
BlackBerry users have been hit by a major outage reportedly affecting the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) across parts of Africa, the Middle East and Europe, including the UK.
The extent of the problem isn’t yet clear, but countless SA BlackBerry users began reporting problems early on Monday afternoon through social media services such as Twitter and Facebook.
Some SA users of the service as far flung as Abu Dhabi have reported problems accessing the service.
Some reports suggest the problem extends all the way to Europe and Asia, and that the service outage may last until Monday evening SA time. However, TechCentral has not yet been able to obtain comment from local representatives of BlackBerry maker Research in Motion.
BIS was in the news recently when SA’s largest mobile operator Vodacom threatened to throttle users’ speeds to curb abuse of the system by some users of the service that was resulting in network congestion |
