Hello there, firstly i hope everyone is having a nice day. Now to the problem.

I recently brought a second hand blackberry from eBay, everything is fine and working perfectly apart from blackberry messenger, email etc. Now i know what the problem is. The device was already registered to RIM on the previous carrier " Three " the phone was unlocked and i entered my carrier's sim " Virgin ". Text etc work's fine it's just the blackberry services. Now i've been googling the problem all day and there's a hell of alot of people with the exact same issue. I called up the previous carrier and asked them if they could detatch the pin but they told me i'd need all of the previous owner's account details and couldn't do it. So i contacted my carrier virgin and they didn't help at all and didn't really see what the problem was.

I've tried several solution's including re activating the host table's which at first didn't work but then i got a text saying " your handheld has now been registered with the wireless network " i also tried the service book's. I've also tried re registering the phone with the virgin online blackberry internet service which at first just gave me an error telling me it's already registered with another carrier, but now it's telling me i can only do it via the phone, which to no avail has failed. I go to the email set up option and it only give's me the choice to activate it via a work email.. which i'm guessing mean's it's still not connecting to the blackberry service..

Sorry for the long paragraph but i'm desperate for a solution! anyone? Thankyou!

You need the previous owner to contact "3" and have the BlackBerry removed from the old account. Nobody but the previous owner who set it up can undo it.

Thank's for the reply, since i contacted 3 and they declined to do it, i received an activation email from blackberry, my phone then started showing the blackberry icon in the top right corner and the online registering service for virgin media IS no longer say's it's registered with another provider but say's i need to register the handset via email on the device. I can't do this though as on the device it only give's me the option to add a work email to the enterprise server?

You need a BlackBerry data plan active on your account with Virgin. As soon as you have this you should get the option to use personal email.

I also have this too and have had this for several month's on my old blackberry. I transfered the sim to the pre owned one i brought. Do you think i might just need to ring up virgin and see if they can reactivate it?, i tried texting yes to 789333 but it says " short message transfer rejected ".

Yeah, usually a phone call is the only way to get these things done. It's like that with Sprint (who owns Virgin). There is an online process but it always ends with "call Sprint".

Sprint does not own Virgin in the UK, so the OP won't end up doing that.

If I recall, Virgin uses the EverythingEverywhere (T-Mobile/Orange) network in the UK.

Wow. Live and learn. I just assumed it was all Sprint. I guess I fell into that trap about "assuming".
