Default Blackberry Curve 8520

Hi,
can anyone help me please.
I have just upgraded to a iphone 4,I have kept the same number.
I have sold my previous phone on flebay Blackberry Curve 8520 on Orange,
sim free,well the buyer as contacted me and said the phone is blocked to my email address,is this correct and what can I do?

Contact Orange and make sure that the device has been deleted from their BIS.

The BlackBerry system that controls e-mail.
Before selling a BlackBerry you should always have the account deleted from BIS by the carrier.

Just rang them and they have deleted my previous email address from the handset,will this now mean it will not be blocked?
