I have a Blackberry Curve 9300 with an OS version 6.0.0.461, Plat 6.6.0.137.

My email (gmail) has been sending emails to most members on my address book. I suspect it is malware hosted on my phone (My only means of internet access; no computer) using my saved credentials for access to my email account.

For example: At least 5 people are selected randomly from my address book at a time and are sent emails regarding the usual spam (xxxxxx, medicine, etc.).

I was wondering what the best approach to stop this from happening, without deleting my main email account. Are there any malware scanners/removers, security updates, etc? My last update was in April, and Blackberry insists that no more updates are available.

tl;dr My phone sends unauthorized emails, and I would like to slavage my contact list and email account. How can I stop this spam delivery from happening, and how can I keep my phone secure?

Your GMail account was hacked. It has nothing to do with the BlackBerry.
Log in immediately and change your password.

No malware on the BB. Never has been to date. If it were, the news would be all over the place.

I had a similar problem. Something sent emails with a mysterious link to essentially everyone on my Yahoo contact list. Up to that point, I didn't have anyone in my Yahoo contact list! I intentionally didn't add anyone becasue I didn't want this to happen.

Apparently, my Yahoo contact list on my laptop was created/updated by wireless sync from my Blackberry. Before I understood where these contacts came from, I deleted all my Yahoo contacts (on my laptop) and, you probably know where this is going, next time I went to send something from my phone, my contacts were wiped.

I have since disabled the sync feature for the Yahoo email address (click on the email account - options - email reconcilliation - uncheck Wireless Reconcile). For my purposes, it certainly caused more problems than it was worth.
