I read in a Sticky, either here or on the Crackberry Forum, that the best way to increase the battery life for the Bold 9900 is to top it off constantly, then after about 30 charges, to let it run down to 10%-15% and then fully charge it so that the meter would be accurate.

Well, I tried that, and it didn't exactly work. After about 30 top offs and then letting it run down to 10%, I fully charged it, and it would only charge to 90%. Then, a few days later, even though it showed good battery strength, I all of a sudden got long beep and a green blinking light that my battery was just about empty.

I then fully charged it and it is now lasting forever. Very strange. What are your thoughts on how to get good battery life?

Normally a LI type battery does not like to be drained to the levels you suggested. My own experience is they will fail at some point. I had to replace one a few weeks ago because it was drained down 4 times due to using the browser for some work functions.
It started to drain very quick once it reached 60%. If you have a difference experience and it works all the better but thats not the usual way it seems to work for some.

You might try the carrier store or look for a seller on the internet that states it sells OEM blackberry battery's. Also there are a few site sponsors on the main page you can check out. The last OEM i purchased was about $50.00 ( needed it quick so it was costly)

Do NOT drain a lithium batter below 20% if you can avoid it. That will damage the battery and perhaps the BB as well. LI batteries seem to perform better if they are kept topped up when near a power supply. I always keep mine plugged in when I am in the office or car and have no problems at all.

The accuracy of the meter on the BB depends largely on the theme you are using. Some have incorporated the meter better than others. I have found the themes from RIM to be very accurate. The same with PocketDay.
