Question Damn Spam!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there, im new on here so please be gentle.

I have a Bold 9900 which has been fine until recently in reguards to spam emails keep coming though which is frustrating enough (never happened before)as im getiing maybe 10 - 20 per day but it also seems that the spam email addresses are being added to my email list which i dont want. Is there a setting on the hand held where i can change this so it doesnt remember the addresses?

Thanks

You need to adjust these settings through your e-mail provider.

Are you using the carrier supplied email account and getting SPAM via that account? If so, that email address has been "harvested" and there is no SPAM filter. The only way to stop is would be to delete that address from your BB.

If they are coming from other accounts, then do as dc says and check the filters with your ISP at the server level.

Spam can use up a lot of data. the faster you find out where it's coming from the better.

I have lots of spam coming to my Blackberry. I use Gmail. The spam is filtered on my Outlook, but ends up on my Blackberry. Seems like 10-20 spam emails per day.
If Gmail is filtering the spam, then how is it getting on my device?

The BB does not get email from outlook. Both the BB and your Outlook client get email from an email server. Are you using the carrier supplied email account to receive your Gmail or is it coming directly to a gmail account that you added to the BB?

It is rude to hijack others' threads.

To the OP - you can set up filters in BIS online to help reduce the spam gettiing to your BlackBerry. You can filter on "from" email address and subject. This can be tricky because spam can come from many sources, but if you see a pattern of spam with sujbect lines with certain words, like sex, enlargement, pills, degree, etc. you can set up a filter so they are not delivered to your BlackBerry. I have a lot of filters on one of my email accounts that gets spammed a lot and it really helps.
