My problem in a nutshell: A certain folder name automatically hides that folder.

Previously I set the properties of a picture folder to hidden and named it (for the sake of this post) "FolderA". I then downloaded Secure Photo Pro and encrypted the folder and unchecked the hidden property.

Although it shows in the file manager, the folder would not show in the Pictures media menu. I then tried to renamed the folder to "FolderB" and it would appear in the Pictures menu again. I then made a new folder and named it "FolderA", this new "FolderA" would have the same problem as the original folder. This showed that the problem wasn't attached to the folder rather it was carried over via the name.

Could someone help me fix this? Of course I could choose not to use the name "FolderA" but I would prefer to use it, and in case this problem arises again I would like to have a solution (it could help others with the same problem).

PS: I almost forgot - my phone is the Blackberry Curve 8520

Based on your info I think it may be a problem with your steps. You hid the folder then encrypted the folder then tried to unhid the folder.

First pull the battery and reset the BB. It will reload the OS and maybe clean up the apps.

If that does not work I would delete the new folders then pull the battery then build the folder. Last, use the new App to do the encryption.

Even with the app uninstalled the problem is still there. My problem is that whenever I name a Picture folder "FolderA" it will not appear in the Picture media menu. (of course the 'Hidden' property is unchecked and it properly appears in the file manager)

Is there a file maybe that keeps track of folder names and properties associated to a certain name?

I tried to go to the developers web site and unless Apppworld has it wrong their site offers absolutly nothing except an old screen for Valentines day and games. No indication of any ability other than encrypting photos.

Reading some of the posts it seems those who like it only want to hide photos on the SD card and others who hate it have problems. The biggest problem I read is fail to upgrade and loss of photos. Unless your trying to hide photos that could get you in trouble I would just insure you BB has a password and be done with it.

Though my (minor) problem couldn't be solved, I still appreciate your replies Tsac. I'll just live with this 'hidden' folder till I switch to a new phone.

PS. I wouldn't hide photos that could get me in trouble on my phone (high chance of getting stolen/lost) and I would suggest to anyone else who reads this to do the same. Just wanted to install it in case I have to carry confidential work images when I don't have a flashdrive on hand
