Hey everyone! My blackberry torch 9800 won't allow the wifi radio to turn on! It keeps ticking the box beside it and then going off..when going into scan for networks it says the wifi radio won't turn on. I dropped my phone into the sink,was in for about 5 minutes has been drying out in a bag of rice for the past few days. Everything works fine, buttons, hardware, computers detecting it and allowing restoration. My carrier signal and internet signal (3G) appears as normal. Everything is fine bar the wifi radio bit. It is insured for liquid damage, so I can claim off that. Just wanted to know if anyone knows how to sort it so I don't have to go to the bother of claiming!

I would send in a claim. You can always submit the device for testing, to see if you had a general WiFi antennae failure or something, but I would bet money on the water damage.

I don't know of any fix except to send it in.

If the phone has water damage no carrier will replace it for free.

tsac, there are after-market warranty companies that do provide coverage for complete immersion. I was just shopping for it this weekend. Take a look at SquareTrade.com as one example.

You are correct that carriers don't cover it.

Also, most carrier insurance (eg Ausurion) will cover for water damage.
