the Bberry wouldn'd power on; my battery icon has a red X across it when trying to charge; what can I do to

Replace the battery with a new OEM one, not a cheap knock off.

I neglected to mention that this happened after I fully replaced the housing.

The answer to, "What can I do?" just got more complicated but simple to state. Start over, retrace your steps, and find what you did wrong, what you broke, and maybe fix it.

Make sure the connectors are actually touching if nothing is broken with connections.
