Default bb 9300 curve 3g problem

Hi guys, my finance's mom bought a bb curve 9300 but the 3g does not want to activate, when I go to options mobile network and select the 3g option it instantly looses connection and if I select manual network it only finds GSM, GPRS and EDGE networks. How can I get the phone's 3g working. Running OS5 and network vodacom-SA

O ja, we do have 3g connection were I stay and one of my friends has the same phone and the 3g is always active

To what carrier is the device originally branded?

What 3G frequencies does your carrier use?

What 3G frequencies are on the device?
Go to Options > About and look at the fourth line to check the 3G bands.

It is a Vodacom phone and lists, 3g and wi-fi. But only connects through EDGE, when I select the 3g connection option I loos all connectivity

Yes it is activated, upon phone purchase received a 2 year free plan

Are you positive it is a BLACKBERRY Data Plan. That is NOT the same as a basic internet data plan.
