I'm hoping somebody can help me here.
I lost my 9800 and replaced it with a 9900. I have photos backed up from my 9800 to my laptop but I can't retrieve them without the 9800 attached.
Has anybody got any suggestions.

Have you tried using desktop manager to selectivly restore the media?
from a backup?

The 9800 and 9900 do not run ICS. They run BlackBerry OS.

I have but the option is greyed out. :(

When you connect the BB to your PC and run DM it will ask for the password then allow you to select restore. From there do a "select device data" then you should see a list of item including folders and items called contect store. I did a wipe of my 9700 and did a full restore and it replaced all media. Selective restore can be tried on content store file and some of the other folders. Not sure where your media went but mine was in content store. Of course this all depends on a previous backup having been made.
