| help w/ Enterprise Activation? Please Login to Remove! I am new to the forum and am asking for help on Enterprise Activation with my Blackberry Curve 9360.
AFAIK the phone is brand new and never been registered. I am with an operator (currently in the middle east) that doesn't support BIS/BES (BB data plan) however I can have 3g/edge data coverage as well as wifi.
When I try to access/set up my person emails (such as gmail) I see Enterprise Account Activation page that I don't know/have the required information.
I tried to register my device on wireless network (host routing) but never received any acknowledgment back! I also did a clean wipe and re-install a leaked, as well as released, OS 7.1, but again with no success.
Is there any way to get the Enterprise Activation removed from my device? Or is there any way to register my device over the INTERNET/wifi rather than On-d-Air?
If neither is possible, how can I get my gmail contacts and messages and calendar data on my phone?
Many thanks;

| Re: help w/ Enterprise Activation? In order to set up the phone and email you must have a BB Data Plan. If it is new you probably won't be able to use WiFi as you will not have the required Servive Books that are pushed to the BB when the BB Data Plan is put in place.

| Re: help w/ Enterprise Activation? That carrier does seem to support BlackBerrys so you should contact them to inquire about getting the BB Data Plan which will allow you to set up BIS.

| Re: help w/ Enterprise Activation? What exactly are you trying to do? Are you trying to set up using BES or BIS?
If BIS, then you need a BB dataplan activated on your account and the proper service books sent by your carrier, as noted by stevetaz above. | Offline

| Re: help w/ Enterprise Activation? Thanks all for your replies.
Let me explore the problem a little further: due to the nature of my field of work, I travel frequently between KSA (Saudi Arabia), Qatar and UAE and although Etisalat does have a very LIMITED BB data plan (only in UAE) it would be either very expensive to use (because of roaming charges) or it is blocked/banned in some countries (KSA). I am initially with vodafone UK but when I bought a new blackberry in KSA I realised that I cannot pass the enterprise activation page in order to set up my personal emails, obviously because I don't have a BB plan.
So basically the main question is: how can I acquire the required Service Books over Wi-Fi without having BB data plan (BES or BIS)? Is that even possible? if not, can I delete or disable Enterprise Activation for good?
Thanks. Quote:

| Re: help w/ Enterprise Activation? Sorry, don't know of a way to get Service Books without a BB Data Plan.
I would think there is no way to delete the BES Activation as it is built in. You should be able to just ignore it, no? Many people have BBs without being on BES. Maybe I am misunderstanding though.....

| Re: help w/ Enterprise Activation? From my experience living there, I would advise against BlackBerry and suggest Android or iPhone.
In UAE, use du for your provider as data is very inexpensive. In KSA, use Mobily. In Qatar, use Qtel. Vodafone QR is less expensive, but Qtel has much better service, particularly away from Doha.
The downside, of course, is not having a single mobile number at which you can be reached, but as you have likely seen, everyone there has more than one mobile.

| Re: help w/ Enterprise Activation? well I would like to ignore it but when I go to setup my personal email accounts (gmail) it won't let me. There should be a way to setup email accounts without having user name and password for BIS! Is there any way to receive a code for enterprise account by providing my PIN? Quote:

| Re: help w/ Enterprise Activation? The Android UI is just horrible, not merely bad or unpolished. iOS is sleek and polished but not for me, I have never warmed up to apple products. I don't need all those fancy apps. We dont all have an Angry Birds or Wordfeud addiction. No other OS matches BB app integration, calendaring and push email. Quote:

| Re: help w/ Enterprise Activation? But the beauty of push email on a BlackBerry only functions when you have the proper BlackBerry Data Plan. Otherwise, not so much.
Looks like you are facing a conundrum.

To be perfectly honest, iOS 5+ and Android 4+ do a great job at PIM for business, and iOS 6 is even better. My iPhone integrates my work and personal life perfectly. The only thing lagging to BB, and just ever so slightly, is the calendar, but it's still good.
Don't knock them until you give them a chance is all I'm saying.
