I am trying to uninstall Desktop Manager 7 to do a re-install. However I keep getting the message "Error 2738 Could not access VBscript run time for custom action."

Any simple answers for a basic computer user?

Sorry, this remedy did not work. There must be some easy way to rectify this but it alludes me and others. Has anybody actually had this probelm and resolved it? Have Blackberry given a clear and precise answer?

I did a search, got pages of hits. I linked that because I saw it in the search and found it here too.

aiharkness. Thanks for your link but every time I try one of these remedies it fails to work. I have a problem with extracting the files from Dektop Manager now that Blackberry have added the extension .BBB. ( I had no trouble with .IPD) So I wish to re-install Desktop 7 to see if it was an installation fault. However, unlike most other programmes the repair option does not work and nor does the remove option. There is even a YouTube video showing that once Desktop has been removed and is not listed it is still there and operable.

Sorry. Wish I could do more than point in this case. Best I can advise is give detail on what you've done and where exactly things don't work the way they are supposed to, and perhaps someone who knows can tell you what you need to do.

One suggestion is, the info aiharkness gave requires most of the try's to be from the administrator login.
Generally the removal of programs or reinstall of failed ones requires Admin level.
If you can , login as Admin and try the re-register the BVscript. Also as indicated in the link , not everything works as it should.....sometimes.
