Default can't add my mail.com email address back on my curve

Please Login to Remove!

Hello Folks . . . as the title says ..... just changed my pass for a mail.com account that's been on my curve since i've had it, changed the pass via webmail/logging in on the net.

got prompted before with the notification that mails were no longer coming in through the handset and that details needed to be updated - attempted to do that several times to no avail - searched around a bit and came across the suggestion to dlete it and re-add it which i've attempted to do several times, it's just not having it !

i know the u/name-pass combo is correct cos i can get into webmail of course via the laptop, have entered the details as IMAP with imap.mail.com server address, also tried pop for the sake of it, made sure the username is correct etc etc etc, so now i'm just wondering if this is some glitch i'm just not aware of cos i don't know what else there is to try ??

any suggestions welcome . . . . .

Are you trying to add via the device itself or the carrier's BIS site? Try the carrier's BIS site if you aren't already. then resend the service books (see the FAQ) and do a battery pull.

Hi,

I'm trying to add like I did originally just through the handset, I'm using the o2 network and I have their blackberry messaging paygo package, I've never had to enable anything through the o2 site before, I'm not even aware if they have anything to be honest !

BlackBerry Internet Service

I would try through there and see if you have any more success.

No, when you log in, you should see all of your accounts listed, just re-add the problematic account, and then resend the service books. You should be good to go then.

FWIW this is the email i keep getting to the very same account i'm trying to add to the phone !

Your attempt to configure the BlackBerry Internet Service to deliver mail to your BlackBerry device from this email account was unsuccessful. This email provides instructions to help with the email account set up.

You submitted the following information:
Account Type: POP3/IMAP
Email Address: *myusername@mail.com
User Name: *myusername
Password: ****** (For security the password is not displayed.)
Mail Server: imap.mail.com

Please confirm the information. Refer to the instructions below for help in determining the correct information. After confirming the information, log in to the BlackBerry Internet Service site and try again.

POP & IMAP Accounts
Internet Service Provider email accounts are commonly either POP or IMAP accounts. You need the following information:
Note: You can find out this information from either your desktop email application or your Internet Service Provider:

Email Address:Your email address
for example, [email address]
Server: The name of the Mail Server
for example, mail.ISPname.com
User Name: The portion of the email address before the "@" symbol
for example, patrickmoser in the address [email address]
Password: The password for your account

If you are still having difficulties adding your email account, visit the online help on the BlackBerry Internet Service site.

Thank you.

I went through something like this just now. This may or may not help. Skip the story to see the bottom line if you want.

My ISP email email addresses are both hosted on Yahoo. I wanted to convert the BIS setup to imap. I deleted the two addresses and then added them back, except I used the advanced setup screen to enter the imap server address, etc. But I kept getting the error message that the system could not login and the username and/or password were not correct. I repeated again and again for a while in case it was just a network thing.

After the above, I went to the Yahoo portal on a computer and to the screen that shows the devices and apps that have been granted access to my Yahoo services for each login and removed the RIM/BlackBerry entries. Immediately after that I was able to complete the email setup on the BlackBerry.

I'm not sure if I fixed my problem or if it was coincidence. At any rate, it is worth looking at everything. My example may not apply exactly to your situation, but the general idea does apply. If you are clearing everything and starting over, go through your account settings on the email service side and go through everything.

All I could find was resetting the mobile access which i've done but it'll take a while to take effect then I get prompted again for login details apparently, that's all i could dig up . . . .
I'll update with the results, might as well try it, nothing to lose, thanks for the suggestions so far . . . . .

I'd like to say that was it, and maybe it was. We'll never know. Could have been some unrelated hiccup in the BIS. But I'm glad it's working for you now.
