Hi folks,
a few months ago I my screen went blank on my Torch (not sure on the model, it's the first one)

Orange (my carrier ) were not interested as it was over 12 months and neither were Blackberry - even though there are 5 BB's in our house all on contracts

Other than the black screen the device was receiving calls and texts messages ( I just couldn't view them) .

I fitted a complete new LCD screen and digitiser and its still the same. Every BB in the house has had issues of some kind or another , and this has just about sent me over the edge

I have googled the hell out of this problem and got nowhere with any suggestions. Anyone know what part I can change or method I can use to breathe some life into this piece of junk ?

Have you tried to reload the OS?
Also did it get wet ? or dropped?

If your sure the screen was the exact same number I would try an OS reload unless it was dropped or got wet then it may need to be replaced.

Can't believe there isn't something else to be honest, I also cant believe that as this appears to be a fairly common problem, noone seems to know the cure.

If the replacement did not have the exact same numbers on the back of the lcd as the original it is likely the wrong part was installed. Did you order the replacement based on the model or after removing the original and providing the numbers from the back?

Also, the little plugs can be difficult to properly seat completely. Would pay to recheck.

Ok so you have 6 BB in your account then I would be pushing the carrier for a free replacement. Do some insinuating that they are not the only carrier in the business and losing 6 accounts is never good.
Push for a replacement. They do have the ability to fix this issue. Do not talk to a call center person , ask for a manager or escalate to a higher level of management . Writing a letter to the CEO always gets a response if only from his secretary. Do some research and find out how to make a direct call. Again you may not get to the big guy but will certainly get to a lower level person who has more influence than a call center manager.
