I am having issues with my Bold 9900, I have had it for around a year now and up until last week or so it has been perfect (with occasional crashes etc) for the most part. However, my battery started to drain very quickly - i.e. I could leave the house with 100% battery and 10 minutes later it would be on red.
At first I thought this was an issue with the battery so I purchased a new one however this seems to be doing exactly the same, does anybody have any idea what could be causing this?
My GPS is not on, I only have the essentials running (i.e. the things you can't close like the clock, messages etc). I left the new battery to charge for 12 hours, I purchased it on eBay off a seller who has sold hundreds of them all with good reputation as genuine, high quality batteries.
I would still doubt the battery, even the "new" one, but I would reinstall the OS to make sure it isn't a software problem.
Also, does the device get very warm when the battery runs down? Or does it stay cool even as the battery seems to discharge so fast?
Have you tried the batteries in another device?
I assume you've been charging the battery in the device. Do you perhaps have an external charger?
Another thought, the pins on the device that contact the battery terminals, do those look ok? Still clean and shiny, not corroded?
I'm wondering if the charging circuitry in the device has gone flakey. It would be interesting to test the battery in another device, or charge it in an external charger and then test. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile
