Do ALL apps from blackberry app world require BIS?

and if not, are there recommendations for an email client,twitter and facebook apps?
or is the best bet to access these services through the browser?

Yes. You need a BlackBerry-specific data plan that includes BIS access in order to use App World.

There will ALWAYS be issues using apps with a standard data plan. You need a BlackBerry data plan even to use WiFi.

I've had no problems with wi-fi so far, and just got ubersocial downloaded to take care of my social networking problems, just need an email client now...

app world work fine on wifi as of a recent update, I have let my kids use some older devices for some of the game available

some apps that require a BIS connection will not work if you dont have BIS
