Default desktop software wont backup not working

Please Login to Remove!

using latest os on my torch 9860. desktop software 7.1. been using this for a few years, only started having issues a coupla months ago. software starts to backup memory card but gets about 90 percent then freezes...bottom right of screen has rotating icon that says connecting. what's up?? should I uninstall then reinstall software (after saving pics etc)?
