Default Bold 9900 Set up for wifi net and use network as well.

Hi All,

I would like to set up my phone in a way to have the wifi and network on. But I would like the phone to use internet if connected to wifi but not with mobile net. So in case I accidentally leave a wifi area the internet would stop working without the need to turn off data service.

Don't think that's possible.

If you set up the wifi service for a home router or connect to a hotspot it will use it instead of the cell network for data but not for calls. This is from the 9900 user manual but it applies to most BB's

"With Wi-Fi® technology, your BlackBerry® smartphone can access the Internet by connecting to a wireless router or wireless
access point at your home, work, or in a hotspot area. Your smartphone uses the Wi-Fi network instead of the mobile network
to visit webpages, send and receive email messages, and so on. When you connect to the Internet with a Wi-Fi network, you
might avoid data charges that are associated with using your mobile network, and, in many cases, the connection speed is
faster."
