first of all thanks to everyone for the brilliant advice I could not have got this far without you.

I am in the process of setting up email forwarding to my BB, unfortunately I have read elsewhere on this forum that gmail/google is cutting the service it provides for blackberry users.

who do you think the best (free) email provider is for compatibility with BB?

I am thinking of forwarding my email from my gmail account to another more BB friendly provider and then linking this to my BB (and eventually move all my contacts over to the new provider.)

any thoughts / tips / advice is very welcome

Try Outlook.com (FKA Hotmail)...

thanks for the suggestion, but after setting up a new outlook account I tried to send an email to make sure the forwarding was working. the account was blocked for spamming??? I provided a mobile number (which I was not happy about) got an unlock code, tried to log in and it wants me to change the password, except none of the passwords I wanted to use were accepted

all other help options came up with: we cannot provide help at this time, please try later.

It works, any new emails sent to my old gmail account are forwarded to my hotmail account and then to my BB, also when sending emails from my BB it shows the address of my hotmail account as sender

Yahoo and ATT both offer free email accounts and can be setup as an additional email.
