BB Curve 9320 multiple address lists

I have two users that have the well documented issue of having multiple address lists on their device when using BES server. With each of these devices only one of the address lists will sync with Outlook. The time has come for upgrades and their contacts are stuck in their old devices. :(

I backed up the first device and and restored to a new BB and the multiple address lists came along but also created a new list on the new device. This BB now had 5 address lists and still only one will sync with Outlook. I used some third party software to extract the contacts from the backup and I could then delete all address lists on the new device and start fresh with the extracted list. The first user is now happy with his new BB.

I then tried the same method on the second BB but every backup I take has no contacts in it. Of the two address lists on his phone, one will sync with Outlook (via BES) but the other list with more than half the contacts is stuck in the BB and I cannot figure out how to get them out so that he can migrate to a new device. I have tried syncing over the wire with Outlook and Windows Address Book with the same results - no contacts. So unless I can resolve this, I'll have to manually re-write some 400+ contacts from a BB into Outlook

This is my first post on these forums and I'm really hoping someone can help me out with this - I've been scratching my head for too long...

Thanks,
Eoin.
