Default Can't open emails when attached to an email

Please Login to Remove!

Good day all,

Not sure if this is supported or not or if there is a fix or not.

We use MS exchange server and we have our own BES server. I get my work email via desktop service

When someone forwards a message to me or sends a message to me with another email as an attachment, I can't open the attachment - I get the error This attachment type cannot be viewed on your device - But it is an email.

Any thoughts / ideas?

Although this is probally an issue with the type of data or image in the attached email, a call to your IT support group may help
I do not thve this issue with either of my BB's One on a BIS and the other on a BES

The attached link is one issue that may help.

Thank-you for the reply, The issue described in the KB is fro messages sent from a BB.

My issue is when a colleague sends a message to me from MS Outlook with another email attached - Its the attached email that can't be opened. It opens fine in outlook but not on the BB Bold 9900.

I checked the message in Outlook with the attached email. the email attached to the message from outlook, is actually an email that I send from my Blackberry. I suspect that the attachment has a ".msg" file type.

Not earth shattering critical but I am stumped by this.

a message with .msg should be able to be opened unless it has been mis-understood by the sending server. there are error messages that give that error message when the attachment has zero bytes or a file type it cannot understand.
There is some indication the BES server can restrict forwarding so unless others have the same issue a call to your IT group may help.
Attached is another blackberry support link with another possibility if your company uses this software or something like it to do email besides Outlook.

I have attached a few other possible causes to look at.

KB35093-Email messages replied to or forwarded from the BlackBerry 10 smartphone are truncated
