SO today since my 8300 curve broke i got my number switched onto my dad's 8300 curve. This phone had not been used for a while and has no updated version of BBM. I am having trouble figuring out where to upgrade my BBM. My phone says the system software is version 4.3 and the version of my BBM is also 4.3. What is the latest version i can ge and where can i get it. I tried to download BBM onto my phone but all i could find was 5.0 which wont download.

If you are on Verizon, then your phone is an 8330, not 8300 - please confirm that.

At the top of this section, there are stickies with the latest OS for each version. It's critical you download the correct OS for your model. You can update the OS first then if needed, install the latest version of BBM.

BBM uses VERY little data unless you are sending and receiving photos. You will not come anywhere 1GB using BBM 4 hours per day.
